The Answers to the Big Questions…
WHO?—Individuals, families and friends, whom God is calling to help spread His Love and serve those
under/un-resourced Mexican families that are in desperate need of adequate housing.
WHAT?—3 day mission trip to Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco), Mexico to build a house for a needy family and to minister to other neighborhood families
WHEN?—We will be leaving at various times from the Oasis Church parking lot. Times of departure and carpool will be decided during a later team meeting. We will be traveling on Friday and working all day Saturday, Sunday, and half of Monday. We will likely return to Yuma on Monday January 21st around 8PM.
HOW?—We will be partnering with a local missions organization based in Rocky Point named “1Mission.” 1Mission owns and runs a converted RV park 6 miles north of town where they house, feed, and help administrate short term mission teams. This will be our home base. We will be camping at this location. There are electric/water hookups for RVs if you plan to bring one. Families should plan to bring a tent, camping trailer, RV, or sleep in your car. There is also a bunkhouse on campus that sleeps 30 men and another that sleeps 30 women. However, there will be other groups serving with us and beds are reserved on a first come, first served basis. If you do not have access to camping equipment, see Pastor Augie for more info. You can check out 1Mission’s website at www.1mission.org For those of you who would rather not camp, you can book your own hotel at one of the many resorts on Sandy Beach. You will need to meet us each morning at 1Mission for breakfast and to carpool to the work site…this means you will need your own transportation. REGISTRATION— A $50 deposit per paid person is required to reserve your spot. Total cost for the trip is $280 per person 18 years and older. Children ages 17-12 are $115. Children 11 years of age and under are free. 1Mission has also offered a family rate of $875 for families with multiple teenagers/children. This means a family’s total cost will be no more than $875. Registration includes all tools and construction material for the house build and food/meals/snacks/water/etc. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Please also submit your financial deposit to Oasis Church by Dec. 2nd. Please also submit the hard copy 1Mission Participant Form (One per family) by Sun Dec 30th, 2018.
TRAVEL IN MEXICO
-- Mexican Auto Insurance: Each vehicle/RV/and trailer being driven into Mexico will need Mexican Liability Insurance. You can buy these policies online or from your current auto insurance provider. Sanborn’s Insurance has been the cheapest on the last three trips that we took. Check their site for your rates. www.sanbornsinsurance.com
-- Mexican Immigration and Customs: Each person traveling into Mexico is allowed to bring $50 in new merchandise before being taxed on it. Do not bring brand new items to donate without checking first with the trip coordinators.
-- U.S. Immigration and Customs: Returning to the U.S. each person will need the following… Adults 18 years of age and older will need to provide a valid US Passport or Passport Card to re-enter the United States. Children and youth under 18 years of age will need to provide a copy of their birth certificate. Children/Youth without parents present must have an adult with them that holds power of attorney for that minor. See Pastor Augie for the power of attorney forms.
Construction on the home will begin early Saturday morning. That means that everyone will need to be down there on Friday night. Each family is responsible for their own travel. If you are driving an RV or pulling a trailer, or simply driving your own vehicle, feel free to leave anytime you wish, or travel with the various convoys that will be setup before our departure.
As you may know, wait times at the border returning to the US can be long depending on time of day/year. We will be traveling back in the mid-afternoon on Monday (after a holiday weekend) so the wait time could be long. Be prepared to sit a while. If your family plans to stay a few extra days please notify trip coordinators on Monday before we leave.
Most merchants will accept the US dollar so you will not need to exchange money in order to pay for things. As in most vacation destination there is an extensive shopping area down by the port that you can visit on Monday afternoon before you leave or on Friday after you setup your camping spot. Please enjoy yourself but remember border crossing times. The border is closed at Lukeville, AZ from Midnight to 6AM and open 24 hours at San Luis, AZ.
