What We Believe
We value the Biblical Authority of God’s Word and it is the premise of everything we do as a church. God's Word is our guide, authority and conscience in everything. We stand firm where it stands firm and remain flexible where it is flexible. At Oasis Church our Elders along with the Pastors are the final authority when it comes to interpretation and practice of God’s Word. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, James 1:23-25)
Authenticity and Transparency
We value in being Authentic and Transparent as believers in Christ. Authenticity, integrity, transparency, and sincerity will define us. "The goal of our instruction is love, from a good conscience, a pure heart, and a sincere faith." (1 Timothy 1:5, Philippians 1:6)
We value being intentional in our approach to every aspect of ministry. Every decision about ministry is intentional and does fit within the structure of our purpose and value system. We believe Jesus Christ was very intentional and we as His church need to be intentional in our approach to ministry. (Matthew 28:18-20)
We value that the church should be culturally relevant while remaining doctrinally pure. The Bible does not tell us to use only certain styles of music, or to present our message only through words. The Bible does make it clear, however, that we are to find ways to effectively bring the message "into all the world" in order to make disciples. We believe this will require careful scrutiny of everything we do - new practices and old - and a willingness to change when necessary within Biblical parameters, in order that we, "by all possible means might save some." (1 Corinthians 9:19–23).
Lost People Matter
We value and believe lost people matter to God, and therefore, they matter to the church. This includes the concepts of relational evangelism and evangelism as a process (Luke 5:30–32; Luke 15; Matthew 18:14).
Committed to Community
We value and believe as believers we need to be committed to the community. Belonging to our community requires a commitment to being intentionally involved with others in accountable, encouraging relationships. We believe life-change happens best in the context of relationships. In clusters of caring people, participants share and encourage each other toward spiritual growth. Here people can experience both the benefits of a larger church and enjoy the kind of relationships that only develop in small, safe settings. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
Contributors not Consumer
We value as the body of Christ we are to be contributors not consumers! We believe that we are to love others sacrificially and it is better to give than to receive. Those who attend are expected to be involved in the ministry of the church to include attendance when possible, praying for the church and its leadership, serving in ministry, financial giving, and being involved in small group. There are no spectators in the kingdom of heaven to include the local New Testament church! (Romans 12:4-5, Ephesians 4:15-16)
People treated Gently and with Respect
We value and believe people must be treated gently and with respect! We must have a “safe place” for followers of Jesus: where we can be real and honest without judgment or condemnation, yet seek encouragement and support from fellow believers. Second we must have a “safe place” for people who have not yet made a commitment to Jesus where they can sit and learn, process Biblical information without feeling pressured, judged, threatened or even hurried. (1 Peter 3:15)
We value in allowing Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit to transform people’s lives into fully devoted followers of Christ. Our role model is Jesus Christ not one another and we are to keep our eyes on Him for every aspect of our life. (Ephesians 4:11-16)
We value excellence, and believe everything we do must be done with excellence! As followers of Jesus Christ we are to be dedicated to excellence from the smallest to largest task. Jesus, and even the secular world demand excellence! We as a church will strive to be the best we can be because of who we represent. We represent the best gift ever given to mankind and we should strive to do it well! (Colossians 3:23-24)
